Africa Three-Seater Sofa – Esko Pajamies for Asko

The Africa three-seater sofa was designed by Esko Pajamies for Asko as part of the Africa furniture group. This example combines a substantial oak frame with cognac-coloured leather upholstery and a clearly expressed suspension system.

Drawings preserved in the Lahti Museums’ Asko archive date the Africa group to 1971. Its solid timber construction, modular cushioning and visible leather support straps give the series its distinctive, carefully articulated character.

Three loose back cushions and three seat cushions rest within the exposed frame. Broad leather straps remain visible across the back and beneath the seating, while rounded upholstered armrests soften the robust oak structure.

The sofa is in very neat vintage condition. The cushions and leather are well preserved, with only minor age-related wear and no major damage reported. Please review all images for details.
