About the designer
Esko Pajamies
Esko Pajamies was a Finnish interior architect whose furniture belongs to the generation that shaped post-war domestic and public interiors. Lepo records that he graduated from the Academy of Applied Arts in 1954 and that the relationship between Pajamies and Lepo began with the Polar series. His designs balance strong silhouettes with the practical requirements of seating, dining and everyday use.
Pajamies worked with Finnish manufacturers including Lepo and Asko. Series such as Polar and Pele show how a recognisable design language could extend across lounge chairs, sofas, stools and tables. Vintage examples may differ in upholstery, wood finish, base construction and manufacturer markings, so the model name alone does not tell the full story of a piece.
Pino evaluates each example through construction, proportions, materials and any surviving labels. Upholstery may be original, later replaced or newly restored; wooden and metal parts may carry normal signs of use. These details are described at product level whenever known. We only offer pieces we have established to be authentic, and we can provide extra photographs or measurements if you are comparing an example with a particular interior or existing set.
Browse the available Pajamies pieces above, review sold Finnish furniture in the Pino Archive, or submit a sourcing request for a specific series, quantity or finish. See Shipping for delivery details and Material Care for condition-aware care guidance.
The Polar family is a useful example of Pajamies working across a coordinated range rather than one isolated object. Comparing chairs, lounge seating, sofas and tables can clarify how materials and construction repeat across a series while dimensions and function change.
Questions
Buying vintage design
Are all Pino Interiors pieces authentic?
Yes. Pino Interiors only acquires and sells pieces that we have established to be authentic. If we are not confident about a piece’s authenticity, we do not offer it for sale.
Can I request more information about a piece?
Yes. Send us the product link and tell us which details you would like to inspect. We can provide additional photographs, measurements or video when needed.
Can Pino source another piece by this designer?
Possibly. Send us the designer, model and your preferred materials, colour, quantity and delivery location. Vintage availability varies, so timing cannot be guaranteed.
