Alvar Aalto Finger Joint Dining Table for Artek, 1940s
Alvar Aalto Finger Joint Dining Table for Artek, 1940s
This vintage dining table was designed by Alvar Aalto for Artek and dates from the 1940s. Made from birch, it combines a simple rectangular top with Aalto’s characteristic bent L-legs and an early double finger-joint construction.
The visible joint detail is associated with older Artek production and reflects the carefully developed woodworking behind Aalto’s practical furniture. Its restrained structure allows the warm birch and balanced proportions to remain the focus.
Measuring 121 × 75 cm, the table offers a useful dining or working surface without occupying excessive space. It has been refinished at some point in its history, so the present surface is later rather than original.
The table is in good vintage condition with visible marks, scratches, wear and patina throughout. Despite the later finish and age-related surface wear, it remains structurally sound. Please review all images for details.
