Alvar Aalto A622A Ceiling Lamp – Valaisinpaja Oy
Alvar Aalto A622A Ceiling Lamp – Valaisinpaja Oy
Alvar Aalto designed the A622 ceiling lamp in 1953, and this vintage A622A example was manufactured in Finland by Valaisinpaja Oy. Its stepped white metal shade gives the lamp a clear sculptural presence.
Originally created for the National Pensions Institute in Helsinki, the A622 is a strong example of Aalto’s architectural approach to lighting. The design controls the light source through structure rather than decorative ornament.
Concentric white-painted metal lamellae are arranged in layers that soften and diffuse the illumination. The construction creates an even atmospheric light while giving the fixture its recognisable profile, suitable for residential, office or architectural interiors.
The lamp is in good vintage condition with light signs of age and use. Minor wear and patina are present on the painted surfaces, consistent with its age. Please review all images for details.

Material-aware guidance Care for this piece
Based on the materials stated in this piece’s product information. Vintage finishes vary, so test any product on an inconspicuous area first.
Metal
Dust with a soft, dry cloth. If needed, use a lightly damp cloth with mild soap and dry thoroughly. Avoid abrasive pads, metal polish and harsh chemicals; these can remove plating, paint or an established patina.
Vintage lighting safety
Disconnect the lamp before cleaning and keep moisture away from electrical components. Pino tests vintage lamps for function; any renewed electrics are stated in the product information. Do not attempt electrical repairs yourself—use a qualified electrician for installation, local compatibility or repair.
