Jussi Peippo Hidalgo Armchair for Asko in Black Leather

Jussi Peippo designed the Hidalgo armchair for Finnish furniture manufacturer Asko in 1962. The low, generous lounge profile combines precise geometric lines with black leather upholstery and chrome-plated metal legs.

Part of the wider Hidalgo series, the armchair reflects the restrained expression and emphasis on comfort associated with Finnish design of the early 1960s. Framed side panels give the model a particularly clear and architectural outline.

Loose seat and back cushions sit between broad upholstered armrests, while slender chrome-plated legs lift the substantial leather body above the floor. The contrast between soft black upholstery and reflective metal keeps the overall silhouette balanced.
