Ilmari Lappalainen Pulkka Lounge Chair in Red Leather for Asko

A striking Pulkka lounge chair designed by Ilmari Lappalainen for Asko during the 1960s. The chair is one of Lappalainen’s best-known designs and a distinctive example of Finnish mid-century furniture. The sculptural construction combines a curved aluminium frame with a suspended, generously padded leather seat.

Its low and relaxed profile is complemented by long leather-covered armrests and a separate head cushion, creating a comfortable chair intended for lounging. This example is upholstered in vibrant red leather, which contrasts beautifully with the exposed brushed aluminium frame. The leather has softened and developed natural character through age and use, giving the chair an attractive vintage appearance.

The chair’s scale and clear profile allow it to work naturally as an individual seating piece in both contemporary and vintage interiors.
