Alvar Aalto Stool E60 for Artek, Red Lacquered Birch

Alvar Aalto designed the four-legged Stool E60 for Artek in 1934. These examples were manufactured in Finland in 2019 and combine clear-lacquered birch legs with red-lacquered birch seats.

The E60 uses Aalto’s characteristic bent L-leg construction. Four legs attach directly beneath the circular seat without a separate supporting frame, producing a stable, economical structure with the familiar spiralling profile when stacked.

The legs and seat edge-band are solid birch with a clear finish, while the seat core combines solid birch and birch plywood beneath the red-lacquered surface. The compact form works as seating, an occasional table or a display stand. Four stools are available.

All four stools are in excellent, near-new condition and are similarly well preserved, with no notable scratches or damage reported. Please review all images for details.
