Alvar Aalto Stool E60 for Artek, Orange Lacquered Birch

Alvar Aalto designed the four-legged Stool E60 for Artek in 1934. This example was manufactured in Finland in 2018 and combines natural birch legs with an orange-painted and lacquered birch seat.

The E60 developed Aalto’s earlier three-legged Stool 60 into a steadier four-legged form. Its construction is based on the characteristic bent L-leg, allowing each leg to attach directly beneath the circular seat without a separate supporting frame.

Four solid-birch legs support the round seat, whose vivid orange finish creates a warm contrast with the clear natural wood. The compact, stackable design can be used as seating, an occasional table or a display surface.

The stool is in excellent, very clean condition with no notable damage reported. The painted seat and natural birch legs present particularly well. Please review all images for details.
