Alvar Aalto Artek Chair 26 - Black

Originally designed in the 1930s, Armchair 26 is one of Alvar Aalto’s most recognizable lounge models. It represents his pioneering bent birch technique at its most confident, where structure and comfort meet in a calm, architectural form. The flowing back and armrests create a strong silhouette while maintaining the warmth that defines Finnish modernism.

This example is from 2015 and finished entirely in black. The moulded birch seat and back are black stained, paired with a black lacquered tubular steel base. The cantilever construction provides a gentle flexibility when seated, making it a comfortable lounge chair for reading corners, living rooms or relaxed office spaces.

The all black finish gives the classic Aalto design a more graphic and contemporary presence.

This piece is in good condition with normal wear and scratches on seat and edges. Please review all images for details.
