Yrjö Kukkapuro 418 Little Carousel Lounge Chair for Haimi in Brown Leather

The Model 418 lounge chair was designed by Finnish designer Yrjö Kukkapuro for Haimi in the late 1960s. Known as the “Pikku-Karuselli”, or “Little Carousel”, it combines a compact sculptural form with the comfort of an adjustable lounge chair.

The design belongs to Kukkapuro’s experiments with moulded fibreglass seating during the 1960s. Model 418 translates the rounded, enveloping character associated with the Karuselli family into a smaller format intended for relaxed everyday seating.

This example has brown leather upholstery over a white moulded fibreglass shell. The matching white fibreglass pedestal base gives the chair a light, continuous silhouette, while the softly padded seat, backrest and arm sections follow the body’s contours.

One chair is available and is sold and priced individually. The chair swivels on its pedestal and its reclining mechanism adjusts between three positions, allowing the seating angle to be changed for different levels of relaxation.

With a width of 75 cm, depth of 73 cm and height of 83 cm, the chair offers generous comfort without requiring an oversized footprint. Its deep brown leather and pale fibreglass create a strong but balanced presence in a living room, reading area or private office.
